online workshops

My online writing workshops are for high school students and adults. They are structured with one lesson per week, which students can go through at their own pace. Work gets submitted online for feedback from peers and from me, and each workshop includes a one-on-one Skype session with me.

Advanced Writing for Young Writers is an 8-week online course for home schooled and independent study high schoolers that uses a learning management system called Haiku Learning. I use up-to-date technology for my lessons including video lectures, online discussion groups, dropbox submission and video conferencing with students. My courses focus on teaching writing as a process so that students learn what writing practices work for them on an individual basis and can use what they learn to navigate any future writing situation. I offers one level for 8th/9th graders and one level for 10th/11th graders. Each course is $280/student and is capped at 6 students. The next 8-week session will be March 12 through April 30.
